IPDASi Web Application

The International Patient Decision Aid Standards (IPDAS) Collaboration is a group of researchers, practitioners and stakeholders from around the world. The IPDAS Collaboration is led by Professors Annette O'Connor in Canada and Glyn Elwyn in the United Kingdom.

In November 2006 Oscom were commissioned by Glyn Elwyn at Cardiff University Centre For Health Sciences Research to develop the IPDASi web application.

After rating a Patient Decision Support Technology (PDST) in line with the IPDAS international standard, members of the medical community can record their results in the new web application. Raters are led through the 60 or so statements that are used to establish how well the PDST meets the quality guidelines laid out in the standard. Researchers at the university use the data collected to analyse PDST quality and provide benchmarks that can then be fed back to the contributors.

IPDASi Web Application Key Features:
  • Hosted web application available to worldwide community to log PDST ratings
  • New users worldwide may register themselves and be activated by the research team
  • Flexible statement management allows the application to reflect the evolving quality standard
  • Flexible reporting tool allows analysts to select and extract sets of ratings for detailed analysis and benchmark setting
  • Web-administrator application for managing application settings, activating users and defining IPDASi domains and statements
  • Low running costs
